High Tide Amazing You Blog Hop Stampin’Up!
Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Kathie Zaban– High Tide Amazing You Happy Stampers Blog Hop
Hi again! Welcome to our next team Blog Hop! For this week, we have a Colour Challenge!
Believe it or not, I did not own the High Tide stamp set until just recently and I decided to play with it in this challenge. I also used the Waterfront stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlits. I’m so thrilled those dies made the cut into the new catalog!
I started off with a Lemon Lime Twist panel and cut down a smaller Sahara Sand panel and ran it through one of the embossing folders from the Petal Pair set. I wanted the design vertical across the panel, so I embossed the Sahara Sand strip three times on my Bigshot with the vertical design embossing folder. Note that two of the sections will get a bit flattened and to somewhat bring back the embossed areas, I used a stylus and gently brought back the design. I mounted the Sahara Sand panel at the bottom of the Lemon Lime Twist and left a 1/8″ gap at the bottom.
Now for the stamping. I stamped half of the lighthouse on the panel using Sahara Sand Ink to bring it to the foreground. I did use the handy dandy Stamparatus to ensure proper placement. I wanted the shadows darker and stamped it about 3 times but after a while the lighthouse ended up looking very monochromatic. Don’t tell, but I restamped the lighthouse in Sahara Sand and to create a bolder shadowed area, I used Soft Suede to get the image to stand out more and fussy cut it out and adhered it over top of the original image.
I used the long stamp piece from the Waterfront Stamp set to create the land area in the distance. I stamped with Sahara Sand and overlapped in a few areas to add some depth. As for the water details. I used the water stamp from the High Tide stamp set. I inked a little section along the edge of the water stamp with Pool Party and lightly stamped across the panel and did the same with Lemon Lime Twist. Next I lightly added pool party with a small sponge dauber to blend the colours and made sure I left some areas uncoloured to add highlights and depth in the water. I did the same for the sky but much less lines and then shaded the top and left edge of the panel. Finally, I stamped the smaller three birds from the High Tide set in Sahara Sand and adhered it to the Lemon Lime Twist panel and left a 1/8″ gap at the top.
Side note: Is it me? I don’t know about you, but I always felt the Pool Party colour on the lid never matched the actual stamped colour. I feel its more on the green side then the blue on the lid. So now you know why I hardly use Pool Party. Once SU comes out with a new Pool Party, I will replace it just in case my copy had gone awry from the get go.
Did I already say I was super thrilled that SU carried over the Celebrate You thinlits? Yay! I die cut the ‘You’ and ‘Amazing’ words in black cardstock and stamped the ‘are simply’ words onto white cardstock with black ink and trimmed it out. Before I tell you how I assembled it. I needed something in the middle of the panel and to be honest my ribbon stash is on the thin side! However, I do have that yummy linen twine from the April Paper Pumpkin kit and it really really really fit the bill. I ho’d and hum if I should use it but it really really really was perfect for the card…so please don’t flame me for using it. I wrapped it three times on the panel and taped it off on the back of the panel.
I raised the ‘You’ word with dimensionals taking into account of the twine and then placed where I wanted the ‘amazing’ sentiment. Before I adhered it down I gauged where I wanted the ‘are simply’ sentiment. Once I was happy with the placement, I adhered the top part of the ‘are simply’ sentiment and added a bit of dimensionals in the lower part and then adhered the ‘amazing’ sentiment.
Finally, I added dimensionals on the back of the Lemon Lime Twist panel to raise it and adhered it to the card base.
Whew, that was a bit long winded!! LOL.
