Storage by Stampin’Up! and Video
Hi Everyone, I was so excited when I saw the new storage system by SU. What a nice surprise! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these and got them express shipped and played with them all weekend. And when I say ‘played’, I moved them in all different configurations and the one I settled on was the first idea that I had in my head! LOL
Originally I was using the Stamp-in-Storage ink pad holder (48) and also the punch storage too. As much as I loved the punch storage, I realized that I hardly reached for punches and it did take up a big section of my desk, so I retired it and put the punches into a couple of cubes that I had from Michael’s. This worked a lot better and gave me some extra space on my desk.
My big idea was to get a shelf of some sort to store stamp sets and needed it to fit the stamp-in-storage ink pad holder. I came across a white shelf unit from Ikea and bot two.. Its really an ‘add-on unit’ for a desk. Its called Pahl and was only $30 Canadian. Side note: there was only white and green left but not to worry, I was able to turn the panel to show the white side only! 😉 It came with 2 movable shelves and I love that it has a 1-3/4″ space at the bottom. I slip my Stamparatus in there and a few other things.
I enjoyed the stamp-in-storage in the Ikea unit but now that SU has come out with this new storage system, I have retired it too but will use it for my old SU ink pads.
Now lets go over what I got. I picked up 10 units of the ink pad holders and 2 units for the alcohol markers. Then I rethought my decision and also got 6 lids, 4 of the toppers and honestly I didn’t care much for the open storage cubes but talked myself into getting 4 of those and for good measure, I got one more of the ink pad holders and marker holders. So ya think I’m all set?
I like that they are overall compact and saves space. I don’t know about you but I like my ink pads grouped under each colour family. I am super pleased that both the ink pads and the Stampin’Write Markers are now together! I left separate sections for the in-colors so I can keep it straight in my head and not much to say about the alcohol marker holder expect it is just as nice as the Crafter’s Companion marker holder that I was using except I can now configure it vertically too if I wanted to! Yay!
I just noticed the ‘open storage cube’ is now sold out! I’m surprised! They were my least favourite but they are kinda cute. I found a few of my four aren’t perfectly squared but once you get the lid or the topper on it, its okay but will pop off easily if you hit it by reaching into the cube. A bit of tape will fix that but I’d try clear packing tape for longevity!
The sections do not lock or snap together and will come apart very easily. I wish they put the tiny notch at either end so they can be used like lego! LOL It would be nice to see a half size of the open storage cube down the road too.
As for the topper, well it works and two will hold all the SU re-inkers, however, you will need one more to hold the in-colors.
I know I’ve talked your ear off. These were just my thoughts. I did manage to get a video together to share how I set these up and as a bonus I’m sharing a bit of my desk craft area along with how I record videos.
Hope you enjoy the video:
I’m so excited about this new storage system that I’m going to offer a rebate. If you got this far down. I am going to offer a $10 rebate on Canadian orders $100 or above, which will cover a portion of your shipping cost. I can either mail you a cheque or e-transfer it.
Technical stuff: The microphone is an Audio Technica T2035 and the Audio Interface is Focusrite Scarlet Solo. I used suspension arms and articulating arms with a clamp.
Thanks for stopping by!
Look forward to your Paper Pumpkin alternatives!
