Paper Pumpkin July 2018 Unboxing Video & Alternative Card
Canadian Stampin Up Demonstrator Kathie Zaban – Paper Pumpkin July 2018
Hello there, finally have the unboxing video completed featuring the July 2018 Paper Pumpkin Kit and along with it, I included an alternative card project. I can’t I love the kit it has potential…I jut wish I had more time to play with it!
Not sure if I will be able to get to the four other ideas I had planed. I bot a boat load of goodies from the 2018 Holiday catalog and I can’t wait to crack open the boxes. They’ve been sitting in my craft room unopened for 2 days and before I open them, I wanted to get this PP alternative project out there before I get distracted with all the Holiday 2018 catalog goodness!
I love how the alternative card project turned out…..he’s super cute! I hope you think the same! You’ll have to watch the video to see how I created the owl using the kit.
For the card layout, I used Island Indigo which was on hand and I teamed it up with the blue gingham tissue paper. I cut it down to an A2 size and glued it down onto a whisper white panel in the same size. The Island Indigo panel was cut down to 4 x 5-1/2 and centred over top the gingham panel. Tip: I wanted the blue sections on both sides, and if I was to do it again, place the glue on the white card stock first and then lay gingham piece that is bigger than the card stock but lay it down so you get the darker blue section along both sides and trim off the access. I was off on the one side because I cut it first and then stuck it down! LOL
The branch was created using the long strip that was for the basket handle. First I cut a “v” shape at the one end and then cut across to the other end to create an uneven edge. Do this on both sides. Then trim back the branch tips to get them a bit pointier.
To bring out the embossed design on the branch, I scrubbed Early Expresso Stampin’Write marker over top and then ran a paper towel over top to get the access off. Now the details stand out a bit more and gives the branch a nice texture. To finish off the branch, I used the sticker leaves but I did cut them down to proportion them better.
To see how I created the owl, you’ll have to check out the video! But just one tip, the body should be shaded in entirely so when you place the strawberry piece on top, the Soft Suede will show through the tear shape cut outs and adds that extra detail that is needed for the owls bib.
