Paper Pumpkin Dec 2017 Alternative Card #RedBoxChallenge
Hi there! Today I’m sharing a new card I made using the December 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit. I’ve been meaning to create a card to enter into the Paper Pumpkin #RedBoxChallenge. Since I hadn’t made too many cards with this kit due to the holidays and such, I decided this was the kit for the challenge.
Here are some details on how I made this card….sorry no video tutorial but if I get enough requests, I will consider it.
Flower: I used the little flower stamp to create the flower petals and Rich Razzleberry Stampin’Write Marker to add details to the petals.
Stem & Leaves: I hand drew the base and the stem using Wild Wasabi Stampin’Write Marker and added the little curly stamp from the kit on each stem, however, I did hand draw the other side. The leaves are from the kit and I used a combination of 2nd and 3rd generation stamping with Wild Wasabi Ink. To give the leaves some dimension, I added dark highlights on each of the leaves using the Wild Wasabi marker and a light touch with the black watercolour pencil.
Butterfly: The butterfly was stamped initially with Pacific Point but I did end up outlining it with Black once it was all coloured in to bring back the details. As for the colouring, I coloured with yellows, pinks, greens and blues.
Background: The background was sponged in with Pacific Point Ink and the sentiment stamped with Black Achival Ink. Initially I only wanted a bit of blue on the top left and bottom right side but when I opened the Pacific Point ink pad, somehow I got ink on my finger and it got onto the white…Grrrrrr. So thats why it ended up with lots of shading.
Watercolour Pencils: To give the images a bit of lift, I used the Grey and Black watercolour pencils to add dark shadows to the left side of the images. Lightly shade along the images with the Grey and then softly outlined along the edge of the images with the Black to give that extra pop. If you happen to put down too much, you can use an eraser to remove it. I did not add any water!
Card Recipe:
– Cardbase Whisper White 4-1/4 x 11″ and Score at 5-1/2″
– Black Panel 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″
– Flower Panel 4 x 5-1/2″

Oh my§ This is sooo gorgeous Kathie, I absolutely LOVE it, but I have to confess, I have a thibng for butterflies, and just think, everything with butterflies are sooo beautiful, and they just looks fabulous on any card ever, and especially with beautiful flowers like here. The colors here are sooo rich and beautiful too, and I just love it all.
Sorry I´ve been soo absent the last many month, but health and familyissues got me all down , but hopefully things will soon get back on top again. I´ve really misssed your lovely work.
Thanks so much Maryann! Hope you are better and all is well! You need some R&R and do some crafting! Hugs!
