Paper Pumpkin August 2022 | Alternative Card
Hi there, thanks for dropping by to check out the alternate cards I made. I haven’t ventured out into the slimline card scene and this Paper Pumpkin kit for August 2022 inspired me to give it a go.
I made a video which is attached below. You can follow along if you wish. The first slimline card is a business size card and measures 3.50″ x 8.50″. And the mini slimline card measures 3.50″ x 6.50″. I noted there are various sizes for both and after a lot of research I settled for these two sizes. The other popular size for the mini is 3.5 x 6″. This is a great size especially if you have 12×12 Cardstock.. You can create 4 mini slimline cardbases in a jiffy without wasting any paper!

I really like how the slimline cards turned out and will probably make more of these using the kit.
Now onto the two alternate cards using a few of the stamps from the kit. I used the little bee stamp to create flowers on a mini slimline panel. (same dimensions as above) I basically inked up the wings (Blushing Bride) only and stamped across a pencil line I drew on the panel. If you make one, try angling the wings and stamp at various heights and when you draw the stems, draw with a little curve to add movement to the image. I got carried away trying to get everything on the screen due to the stamp being tiny so my head got in the way and had to adjust for it during post. Regardless, I like how it turned out and with the added bees buzzing about! Oh and the colouring was simple as well. I used a Stampin’Write marker Melon Mamba and Mossy Meadow.
Here are the directions to create envelopes with the big flap on the long side of the envelope. Its actually my preference so I changed it up a bit.
Business Size Envelope:
– Start with 8.5 x 11″
– On the Long side -score at 1″ and 10″
– On the Short side -score at 2.5″ and 6.5″
– Cut the sections that’s not needed and fold score lines and use a corner rounder to give it a nice finish
– Finished envelope should measure 4×9″
MIni Slimline Envelope:
– Start with 8.5 x 9.5″ panel
– On Long side -score at 1″ and 8″
– On Short side -score at 2″ and 6″
– Cut the sections that’s to needed and fold score lines and use a corner rounder to give it a nice finish
– Finished envelope should measure 4×7″
There are lots of videos out there to reference but if you would like to see my take, let me know.
The final card was fun to create and relaxing. I used the leaf stamp and stamped around the panel until I was happy using Old Olive. Then coloured each leaf using Stampin Blends, Granny Apple Green -Dark & Light markers. I colored in the darks first at the bottom of the leaf and veins and blended with the lighter shade. I alternated this step because its a small image and I added Mossy Meadow to the mix to get the leaves to pop more. Next I added the other leafy stamp using Granny Apple Green. Just ink up part of the stamp and stamp on each side of the leaves. I used 2 of the labels and stamped the ‘thank you’ sentiment from the kit and used the included glue dots to put them together. The flower die cut was used for an added pop of color along with a piece of the gold honey comb die cut that I randomly cut out a section. The velum piece was added to mute the leaves for added interest. And finally backed it with blackberry bliss.

Thank you so much for coming by today!
Hi Kathie….wow I just love that leaf card! I’ll have to be making that one! Hey, for the sore throat — I just had a horrible sore throat that I think may have been strep….try 1/4 tsp. Cayenne pepper in a cup of warm water….gargle for as long as you can and also swish it around in your mouth. Hold it for at least a few minutes then spit out. Do this several times a day. You will get pretty quick relief and if it happens to be strep, it will knock it out. As someone told me, cayenne pepper kicks streps butt.
Hi Pat, thanks so much for the throat recipe! It got much better the next day so all better now. Yay! Thanks for commenting. Always nice to hear from you. Hope you had a wonder summer. Hugs
