Hi Everyone! For this weeks Happy Stampers Blog Hop, we have a colour challenge and the card I’m sharing is all about the colour! This card features the pretty Share What You Love DSP and Graceful Glass Designer Vellum (new).
I used the vellum piece with the pretty butterflies and cut it in half. On the butterflies and flowers I coloured them with the colour challenge colours and added an additional shade to compliment the colours. I coloured on the front of the panel using Stampin’Write Markers. For the flowers, I used Berry Burst and Blushing Bride and Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green for the leaves. For the butterflies, I used Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist and added Bermuda Bay to give it that extra pop of colour. And finally, I used Smoky Slate to create the shadows around the images to give it some dimension and to soften the edges I used the Blender Pen. Let it sit for a bit to dry. I was surprised how bold and bright it turned out! Love it!This part is the most trickiest and will require a bit of patience. To create the rectangle shape in the centre of the DSP, I used the largest square layering die. I wanted a 4″ rectangle in the centre of the panel. I did eye ball it and then measured to make sure I was even on all sides. Once you have aligned it, make sure the side you want uncut is hanging off the cutting plates. Once the first end is cut, move the die to the other end where the panel will measure 4 inches. Align the die to the cut lines on the sides and make sure the other side hangs off the cutting plates again. I did the exact same thing with a Berry Burst panel and with the second largest square die, I did the same steps to create the thin inlay. (Yes, it would be nice if SU came out with rectangle dies that did all that and then some! Just saying!)
Make some pencil marks where the centre of the rectangle is. Centre the vellum piece and adhere by adding snail on the sides. Then adhere down the Love What You Love panel. Add some Tombow mono glue along the edge of the rectangle and stick down the Berry Burst inlay.
For the sentiment, I wanted something small and used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set. I stamped it with Versamark onto black cardstock and white heat embossed it and adhered it with dimensionals.
